TV Times top picks for tonight

What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight the best shows on Tuesday 22nd May

A & E Live, ITV, 9pm

In what Davina McCall has said will be one of the toughest jobs of her career, the presenter will report live from the emergency department of Leeds General Infirmary for three nights in a row. Just like the doctors and nurses she will be filmed alongside, Davina will have no idea what sort of emergencies are going to come through the doors, or how busy the A&E department will be each night. The programme will also be following paramedics from the moment they respond to a 999 call to bringing a patient to A&E for treatment. Continues Wednesday and Thursday. Rating: ****

Manchester: The Night of the Bomb, BBC2, 9pm

It’s one year today since a bomb ripped through the Manchester Arena as young music fans were leaving an Ariana Grande concert. This powerful documentary tells the story of that fateful night in forensic detail. From the suicide bomber’s upbringing to the agonising delays that hampered the emergency services’ response, this film chronicles the attack that claimed 22 lives and injured more than 100 people, hearing from victims, police officers and MI5 officials. They all have vivid tales to tell, yet none is as visceral as the story of a mother whose sink became blocked with the blood and flesh she washed from her daughter’s hair. Rating: *****

Amazing Spaces, C4, 8pm

In this special episode, George Clarke tasks a team of skilled builders with creating a lakeside cabin in Machynlleth in Montgomeryshire, Wales. Inspired by a 600-year old Welsh legend, the craftsmen have just two days to complete the project using the natural raw materials found in the area. What will be their biggest challenge? And what we really want to know is, can we go and stay there?!

More previews tomorrow.
