TV Times top picks for tonight

What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight the best shows on Wednesday 10th October

The Bisexual, 10pm, C4

Maxine Peake and Desiree Akhavan star in a new six-part comedy drama which takes a warm, witty and candid look at a woman discovering her bisexuality. Desiree, who also directs (and made the recent film The Miseducation of Cameron Post), plays New Yorker Leila who feels the need to take a break from her girlfriend of 10 years, Sadie (Maxine). Leila moves out of their flat and rents a room in another part of London from novelist Gabe. Faced with still having to see Sadie every day at their joint tech company, Leila also finds herself drawn to men for the first time, and rather awkwardly – and very funnily – begins to explore that side of her sexuality. Rating: ****

The Apprentice, 9pm, BBC1

The candidates have to unleash their inner child this week (easy for most of them!) when a comic-book version of Lord Sugar (yes, really!) sets them their latest task. They must design a comic, complete with an augmented reality front cover, for eight- to 12-year-olds and pitch it to major retailers. While one team decides to tackle the theme of outer space adventures, the other team opts for an educational languages-based publication, despite the fact that none of them appear to have even a basic grasp of French! After some cringe-worthy pitching, who will end up a superhero and who will get a ‘kapow’ from the ever-exacting Sugar?! Rating: ****

Trust, 9pm, BBC2

John Paul Getty’s kidnapper Primo is convinced his captive will net him a fortune. But he hasn’t banked on the boy’s grandfather being a shrewd businessman who views a ransom demand as something to be negotiated, rather than paid. Insulted, Primo is all set to kill the teen when one of his associates, kind-hearted Angelo, helps John Paul make a run for it. But how far can they get in the mountainous region teeming with Mafia? Rating: ****

More previews tomorrow.
