Win The Lady in the Van on Blu-ray
To celebrate the release of The Lady in the Van on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD on Monday 7th March, based on the hugely popular play by Alan Bennett and starring Maggie Smith and Alex Jennings, we’re giving three people the chance to win a copy of the film on Blu-ray!
Based on the true story of Miss Shepherd (played two time Academy Award-winner® Maggie Smith – Best Actress, 1970, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie; Best Supporting Actress, California Suite, 1979), the film shows how this woman of uncertain origins “temporarily” parks her van in Alan Bennett’s (Alex Jennings) London driveway and proceeds to live there for 15 years.
What begins as a begrudged favour becomes a relationship that will change both their lives. Acclaimed director Nicholas Hytner reunites with iconic writer Alan Bennett to create this rare and touching portrait.

A film critic for over 25 years, Jason admits the job can occasionally be glamorous – sitting on a film festival jury in Portugal; hanging out with Baz Luhrmann at the Chateau Marmont; chatting with Sigourney Weaver about The Archers – but he mostly spends his time in darkened rooms watching films. He’s also written theatre and opera reviews, two guide books on Rome, and competed in a race for Yachting World, whose great wheeze it was to send a seasick film critic to write about his time on the ocean waves. But Jason is happiest on dry land with a classic screwball comedy or Hitchcock thriller.
