Aidan Turner - Poldark

Aidan Turner TV’s meanest, moodiest and some would say sexiest man exploded back onto the box for the second series of Poldark, as our hero tried to avoid the noose. Aidan also put in a devilish performance in BBC1's Agatha Christie thriller And Then There Were None, which had people talking about him as the James Bond.

Kris Marshall - Death in Paradise

Kris Marshall The former My Family star once again delighted us as DI Humphrey Goodman in the hit series Death in Paradise. While Humphrey continues to be absolutely brilliant at solving the alarming amount of murders taking place on the island, he’s still utterly hopeless when it comes to the opposite sex. Perhaps he might have more luck next series?

The Night Manager - TOM HIDDLESTON

Tom Hiddleston The smooth actor starred opposite Hugh Laurie in the Beeb’s thrilling adaptation of John le Carre’s espionage classic, The Night Manager. Tom was wonderful as hotel night manager turned spy Jonathan Pine, who was determined to bring down the evil empire run by Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie).

Sherlock - BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH

Benedict Cumberbatch Benedict travelled back to the 19th century (or did he?) for a very special episode of Sherlock, which caught the imagination when it was broadcast on New Year’s Day. He was once again at his best as the bafflingly brilliant detective, while he also put in a superb turn as Richard III in the Hollow Crown: The Wars of the Roses.

James Norton

James Norton James has been in hit after hit this year. He played Andrei in the BBC’s lavish adaptation of War & Peace and returned as crime-fighting clergyman Sidney Chambers in ITV’s Grantchester. But, arguably, he made the most impact as he reprised his role as the twisted Tommy Lee Royce in Happy Valley.

James Nesbitt - The Missing

James Nesbitt Cold Feet fans have had to wait 13 years for its return, so they understandably were ecstatic to see James on screen again as Adam. James showed that although Adam might be a little older, he still has the same spring in his step. As well, he popped up as a real-life murderer in ITV’s The Secret and enjoyed some good fortune in Sky 1’s Lucky Man.
