Doctor Who fans have been left even more excited for Jodie Whittaker’s debut as the next Time Lord after watching her take centre stage in new psychological drama, Trust Me.

The show, which launched on BBC1 on Tuesday, saw Jodie play a deceptive nurse who fraudulently steals her doctor friend’s identity to get a new job after she lost hers for whistle-blowing.

Hours before the first episode broadcast, Jodie said of her character, Cath Hardacre: “I love the fact that her choices are quite morally dubious – they certainly aren’t black and white.

“She makes decisions that are quite challenging to justify, even though we know her reasons.”

Also known for her role in TV drama series Broadchurch, Jodie made TV history when she was unveiled last month as the first woman to portray the Time Lord in Doctor Who, a role she is taking over from Peter Capaldi.

Trust me continues on BBC 1 at 9pm on Tuesday.
