From Doctor Who to the big screen: Noel Clarke reveals his burning ambitions

Former Doctor Who star Noel Clarke has revealed he’s not looking for work in Hollywood, after appearing in Star Trek: Into Darkness.

However, Noel, who had a pivotal role in JJ Abrams' sci-fi blockbuster, admitted he would consider parts in other big-budget movies.

"I wouldn't mind it, but I'm not going to chase it. I'm definitely not someone who spends their time trying to figure out how to do that. I just want to try and do good work," Noel said.

Noel, 38, has also been busy behind the scenes, directing Adulthood and 4.3.2.1, and admitted the transition from acting into directing was a struggle.

"Adulthood was a very, very difficult and a real learning experience. I guess luckily it was something that came out well, and then I directed another film but since then I haven't found something that I wanted to do," he continued.

Noel believes becoming a director was a valuable learning curve for him, revealing he thought it was always worthwhile to challenge himself.

"I feel like you get to a stage in your career where people take you for granted or you plateau and so you've got to choose whether to coast along at that level, or start taking risks to elevate yourself."
