Former Holby City star Sharon Maughan won't be having cosmetic surgery - because she's apparently "too scared". The actress said fear, combined with stories from women who have gone under the knife, has put her off the idea. The 55-year-old told the Daily Mirror: "I have a friend who did it and she said she can feel pressure on her face when she leans forward. That's put me off forever. "I'm not saying I don't look in the mirror and say, 'I wish I didn't have this wrinkle or this line', but I'm 99 per cent sure I'd never do it because I'm too scared." She also said women should not feel pressured to have surgery. "If your partner suggests you should have surgery, you should look at the possibility that you're with the wrong person. "And I think you'll find the future will be shaky, however much surgery you have, because he is clearly looking for something that isn't you." The actress revealed that her teenage years were "almost ruined" by the ideal figures which were in magazines and that there should be more pictures of older ladies in the media. And she's happier than ever with life after leaving Holby City. "I wasn't acting any more, it was more like standing on my head. I needed a challenge. This is such an exciting time in my life. I feel freer than ever."
