Tamzin Outhwaite has said she would have done 'anything' to save her marriage to Tom Ellis.

The New Tricks actress and the Miranda actor - who have two daughters, Florence, six, and two-year-old Marnie - separated in August last year after seven years of marriage.

Tamzin, 43, told the Daily Telegraph: "I'm the sort of person who makes the best of things. I will always find a way to make things work, if I can. All I can say is that I believe I would have done anything to keep us together as a family, but that wasn't what happened."

The actress has never spoken about the details of the split.

She said: "I can't talk about it. Of course, there's a part of me that wants to set the record straight, but I don't want to put any more stuff out there onto the internet for my children to end up reading. If the price for that is being seen in an unflattering light now, then it's one I'm prepared to pay."

The former EastEnders star - who is set to appear in West End show Breeders with former Coronation Street actress Angela Griffin - admitted being a single working mum was not easy.

She said: "It's tough working as a single parent, but I'm lucky enough to have chunks of time when I'm at home and a huge circle of friends and family, although my biggest extravagance is child care.

"It's not as if I'm struggling financially... my hat goes off to those who have that burden of worry as well."
