1. She was born in Guildford

Lily’s parents are legendary British singer Phil Collins and Jill Tavelman, his second wife. She was born in Guildford, Surrey, but moved to LA with her mum when she was five following her parents’ divorce. Lily is close to her mum and has named her as her best friend.

2. She was a journalism student

After graduating from Harvard-Westlake School Lily went on to attend the University of Southern California where she studied broadcast journalism. As a teenager she also wrote a column for British magazine Elle Girl called ‘NY Confidential’. She has also written for Seventeen, Teen Vogue, and the Los Angeles Times.

3. She’s not just an actress

As well as acting and writing, Lily has many other strings to her bow. She is a model and is the face for global beauty brand Lancome. 4. She’s been on MTV reality TV show The Hills

Back in 2007 Lily was selected by Chanel to wear one of their gowns at the Bal des débutantes at the Hôtel de Crillon in Paris, which just happened to also be featured on season three of the reality television series The Hills starring Lauren Conrad.

5. Lily Collins inherited her dad’s vocals

Growing up with someone like Phil Collins as your dad, you’d hope Lily could hold a tune. But she can do much better than that - she has definitely inherited the great vocals gene and has sung on film soundtracks like Mirror Mirror, a Snow White adaptation that she starred in back in 2012. Speaking of her famous dad, Phil Collins also once dedicated a song to Lily called You'll be in my Heart.

6. She’s a bit of a bookworm

Lily has often spoken about her love for reading, and said that she likes nothing more than settling down with a Jane Austen novel. One of her favourite characters is Elizabeth Bennet from the book Pride and Prejudice.

7. She’s a Harry Potter fan

As well as Jane Austin, Lily is also a huge fan of the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling and says that the best Christmas present she has ever had is getting tickets to go to the theatre in London to see the production Harry Potter and The Cursed Child with her mum.

Lily Collins stars in Les Misérables, which continues on BBC1 this Sunday.
