A Seasonal Movie Talk Card from The Shining

Danny Lloyd was plucked from obscurity at age 6 to play Danny Torrance in the classic film version of Stephen King’s novel The Shining because director Stanley Kubrick was particularly impressed with his powers of concentration.

Because the boy was so young, Kubrick made sure he knew nothing about the film’s content and he didn’t even discover it was a horror film until he saw an edited version seven years later. Lloyd only made one other movie and, last heard, now works as a science teacher in Missouri.
