Anne Robinson's 20m divorce payout to ex-husband
The Weakest Link host Anne Robinson will pay her ex-husband John Penrose £20 million in a divorce settlement. The Daily Mail reports that the settlement is a third of Robinson's estimated £62 milion fortune. The paper added that the sum was an unprecedented amount in showbusiness circles from a woman to her husband. Mr Penrose, 61, who split from Robinson, 63, last year, has been awarded £16million plus an investment property portfolio of four houses worth £4million. Robinson will keep four homes - a townhouse in Kensington, a penthouse apartment in New York, a mansion in the exclusive New York enclave of The Hamptons and a cottage near Mr Penrose's in Gloucestershire. The couple met when both worked as Fleet Street reporters in the 1970s. Their marriage reportedly began to disintegrate three years ago when Miss Robinson's career took off in America. Penrose told the Mail: "The decree absolute has happened this week which ties up the legal niceties. "I am not saying anything at all (about the division of wealth) and neither is Annie. That is what we agreed at the beginning. But I would like to say that we remain very good friends and hopefully we will be seeing a lot more of each other." On Wednesday Robinson received a six month-driving ban following her fourth speeding offence.
