Ex-army lieutenant Paul Callaghan got the boot from The Apprentice on Wednesday night - following a task that Sir Alan Sugar had dubbed 'a bloody disaster'. Sir Alan had set both teams the challenge of finding the best of British produce to sell over in France. Both Stealth, led by Paul, and Eclipse, headed up by telecoms manager Lohit Kalburgi, did their best to cook up a storm with our friends across the channel - but Paul's fate was sealed when Stealth became the first team EVER to return to the boardroom and record a loss. While Eclipse's 'English Breakfast' theme proved to whet the appetites of the locals, making a profit of £410, Paul's 'sausages and cheese' combo didn't go down at all well resulting in a loss of £225. Paul brought pharmaceutical sales manager Kristina Grimes and car salesman Adam Hosker into the boardroom - making it third time unlucky for Adam. Paul was blamed for trying to cook the sausages on a 'makeshift' stove and for purchasing 'breeze-blocks' of cheese from a cash and carry. Kristina suggested that the team had failed the task because Paul and fellow team member Katy Hopkins were 'in a relationship'. And, begging for his survival, Adam boldly suggested: "If you want me to prove that I can do this, I will be project manager next week and I will win the task." In the end, Sir Alan had made his mind up, telling Paul. "I am very disappointed. I really thought that you were a contender. I think this has been a bloody disaster. Paul, you lost me money, you are a total shambles, you're fired." Nine candidates are still in with a chance of becoming Sir Alan's apprentice.
