Bruce Forsyth and Vernon Kay are in line to co-host a major Saturday prime-time series on BBC One. The pair have recorded a pilot called Saturday Night Showdown, which will see members of the public pitted against each other in a string of entertainment challenges. Bruce, 79, and Vernon, 33, will each lead a team as they sing, dance or act in front of a live studio audience. At the end of the hour-long show the audience will vote for the winner. It will be produced by Endemol, the company behind Big Brother, Deal Or No Deal and The Games. Former T4 presenter Vernon has hosted a range of light entertainment shows, including Just The Two Of Us, Boys And Girls and Gameshow Marathon. He also fronts a weekend show on Radio 1. Bruce has been a household name since the 1960s. The host of The Generation Game has enjoyed a successful return to the screen in recent years as host of Strictly Come Dancing.
