Couch Potato's Tuesday Trivia: Sex Lies and Videotape's suggestive title

There's no denying that Sex, Lies and Videotape is a genius film title. Suggestive, intriguing, catchy - it's been referenced in popular culture countless times from CSI to The Simpsons, from Dexter to Dawson's Creek.

Nevertheless, this 1989 movie about a man (James Spader) who films women discussing their sex lives is nowhere near as racy as it sounds.

Apparently though the movie was playing in West Berlin cinemas when the Berlin Wall fell. Loads of East Germans crossing over to the West headed in to see it because the title suggested a Western porn flick.

Oh dear.

Sex Lies & Videotape is showing tonight - Tuesday 27th March - on Sony Entertainment Television at 11.10pm
