THE STORY In Australian director Fred Schepisi’s 2011 adaptation of Patrick White’s acclaimed 1973 novel, Charlotte Rampling, plays dying Sydney matriarch Elizabeth Hunter, whose final days are being spent in the care of a dotty housekeeper and two no-nonsense nurses.
