Eamonn Holmes is to marry his partner, This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford. The 49-year-old Sky News and This Morning co-presenter confirmed his engagement to Ruth on the show on Friday when viewers emailed congratulations after spotting her wearing an engagement ring. Eamonn popped the question on a romantic break to celebrate her 49th birthday last week. Ruth said: "I'm so thrilled. We've discussed marriage many times, but this was an incredibly romantic and heartfelt proposal which I will never forget. "It came as a complete bolt from the blue and I said yes immediately. It was very emotional - we were both in tears. I collected my ring yesterday and I'm just so excited." Eamonn, a Manchester United fan, joked they might tie the knot at Old Trafford with Langsford wearing the club strip. He said: "Quite simply, I adore Ruth. Ever since I first met her I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. "I'm slightly embarrassed I haven't got round to it before this, but one day last week I looked at her across a crowded room and fell in love all over again." The couple have a seven-year-old son, Jack, and plan to get married next spring. Get exclusive access to your favourite stars. Subscribe to TV Times magazine
