Expresso Bongo | The vintage 1950s satire starring Cliff Richard gets the BFI Flipside treatement

The second of three new releases on the BFI’s Flipside label, coming out on 25 April, will be Val Guest’s Expresso Bongo (1959). This sharp, witty satire of the music industry starring Laurence Harvey, Sylvia Syms, Yolande Donlan and Cliff Richard, which brilliantly captures the vibe of 50s Soho, was adapted from the successful West End musical by Wolf Mankowitz.

Presented on Blu-ray and DVD in a Dual Format Edition, this will be the first time that the original full length theatrical version of the film has been released. It is joined by the shorter re-issue version from 1962 and numerous extras include an audio commentary, and Michael Winner’s first film, The Square (1957).
