Frankie Boyle to play recovering alcoholic in short film
Frankie Boyle is playing a recovering alcoholic in his first film role.
The Mock The Week star - who has battled booze problems in the past himself - stars as a man who decides that working in a whisky distillery might help him beat his addiction in short film Gasping.
The comic, who has been sober for several years, stars alongside Gavin Mitchell and Gianni Capaldi.
Still Game star Greg Hemphill directed the film, which was shot around Perth, Glasgow and Dumfries earlier this year.
Greg told The Scotsman: "Frankie is absolutely brilliant in it. That's why I wrote this with him in mind."
Greg said of the project: "Although it is a comedy, just because you make light of something doesn't mean that you cannot treat it seriously.
"I would be pretty gutted if anyone saw this film and thought that we had not dealt with the issue entirely sympathetically. It's certainly not a crass or opportunistic gag-fest.
