This year's Royal Variety Performance features a rich and varied treasure of entertainers, including Peter Kay's alter ego Geraldine (pictured), Take That and the Pussycat Dolls. Celebrating its 80th anniversary, this year's show will return to the London Palladium on Thursday, 11 December 2008 and will be performed in the presence of Their Royal Highnesses, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall. Other stars lined up include R'n'B Umbrella diva Rihanna, Leona Lewis making her Royal debut, as will Welsh soul songstress Duffy. Hoping to top his now legendary Singin' In The Rain will be Britain's Got Talent winner, 15-year-old George Sampson, with a brand new dance routine. Also booked to appear are John Barrowman, US music sensation Naturally 7, pop veterans Cliff Richard and The Shadows, while US singer-songwriter Josh Groban will duet with BBC Last Choir Standing victors Only Men Aloud. Providing the comedy will be Jimmy Carr, banter merchant Michael McIntyre, Rhod Gilbert, while Armstrong and Miller will also be performing a one-off sketch. The Royal Variety Performance is an annual charity event in aid of the Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund and will be shown on BBC One in December.
