Gogglebox star June Bernicoff has hinted she will not return to the show following the death of her husband Leon in December.

Gogglebox star June Bernicoff has hinted she will not be returning to the show following the death of her husband Leon.

Viewer favourite Leon died on December 23 at the age of 83 after a short illness.

June has now sparked speculation that she will not continue on Gogglebox without him.

A fan posted a message on Twitter asking June whether she would do the show with one of her daughters.

She replied: “It was a great adventure with a great finale with the NTA”, referring to last week’s National Television Awards, where Gogglebox won the Factual Entertainment Programme gong.

Despite their heartbreak, fans threw their support behind her, with one replying, "I'll miss you June but I understand it would be too hard without Leon, lots of love."

"You will be missed but it's totally understandable... he was such a great character on the show, will be missed by us all, take care of yourself x" added another.

June and Leon were one of the first couples to join the Channel 4 show when it launched in 2013.

The pair, from Liverpool, were together for 60 years after meeting at a teacher-training college in 1955.

After Leon died June posted a message on Twitter thanking fans for all of the touching messages she had received, saying: “Leon would have loved reading them & hearing how much he was loved. Goodnight & God Bless!”

Representatives for Gogglebox have been contacted for comment.
