Death in Paradise fans will see veteran star James Fox guest playing DI Humphrey Goodman’s disapproving dad, QC Martin Goodman, in the series finale – and urging his son to quit Saint Marie.
Unknown to a nervous Humphrey (Kris Marshall), his dad has an ulterior motive for visiting Saint Marie, he wants Humphrey to try and patch up his marriage with ex-wife Sally.
With a career spanning 65 years, including starring alongside Julie Andrews in Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967), Alec Guinness in A Passage to India (1984) and the Oscar-nominated Remains Of The Day (1992), James Fox is an on-screen force to be reckoned with.
James, 75, belongs to the Fox acting dynasty, which includes his son Laurence (DI Hathaway in Lewis), niece and Silent Witness star Emilia, and his nephew Freddie - currently starring in C4’s Cucumber - among it’s members!
Kris, who can’t reveal if he’s to become the second Death in Paradise cast member to leave the series this year, said: “Lots and lots has happened in this series. Both Humphrey and I have really settled into our roles on the island and become more confident.”
But is he confident enough, having recently told What's on TV he's worried about 'turning the show into a flop'? Or could we have another Sara Martins-style exit?
Find out if James’s formidable Death in Paradise character manages to put an end to Humphrey’s ‘gap year career’ in the Caribbean, on BBC1, Thursday, February 26 at 9pm.
