Jason Durr reveals Casualty’s putting on a first-class show for the 30th anniversary episode, which screens on Saturday at 8pm on BBC1
Casualty star Jason Durr is quietly optimistic his character, nurse David Hide, will rise to the occasion in Casualty’s 30th anniversary celebration. It helps that the atmosphere behind the scenes on Casualty has been electric and everybody’s bringing their A game to the epic, feature-length anniversary episode.
Speaking on the set of Casualty during filming of the episode, Jason said: “The 30th anniversary is in fact a film – Casualty: The Movie. What a joy. I couldn’t have asked for better.
“It’s a real collaborated team effort. Steve our director is a real talent… The story is brilliant. And the acting from everybody is just first class. It’s gripping, it’s wonderful.”
He added: “It’s incredibly special and you get that sense when you’re on set. We’re doing something really, really special, and it has to be. They’ve really pulled out all of the stops – it’s going to be big.”
We know disaster strikes during the episode airing on August 27 on BBC1. But how does meek, quirky nurse David cope with the catastrophe that’s due to hit Holby ED?
Jason says: “David in disaster? At the best of times he can get a little bit nervous. But that particular journey is also seeing David coping under enormous stress. And whether he steps up to the plate or not to deliver the goods... I feel pretty confident he might be able to do that!”
