Johnny Vegas, Frank Skinner and Kim Cattrall to star in Sky's silent comedy series

Benidorm star Johnny Vegas and a host of other stars have signed up to appear in a new series of Sky Arts silent comedies.

Fellow comedians Frank Skinner and Vic Reeves will also be appearing in the channel's 'physical comedy season', which is due to screen this autumn - and there will also be an episode starring Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha in Sex and the City.

Johnny Vegas will be dressing up in drag to play a landlady (pictured) in his episode, while Frank Skinner's tale will see him playing an antiques dealer who's targeted by a group of incompetent robbers.

Later in the series Kim Cattrall will star as a heroine who learns a valuable lesson from a troupe of acrobats while living in an abandoned house.

Vic Reeves will be playing a playing a blind man who makes friends with a trio of community police officers played by Seann Walsh, Marek Larwood and Jocelyn Jee Esien.

Sky Arts director Philip Edgar-Jones said: "There's no finer sight in life than someone bumping into something. This was the starting point for our brand new physical comedy season on Sky Arts.

"Luckily the brilliant comic talent who signed up to make four top-notch one-offs all had a rather more sophisticated view of what a silent comedy should be."
