'Mount Pleasant fans wouldn't stand for Dan and Lisa splitting up!' says Sally Lindsay (VIDEO)

Dan, Lisa and little Molly are happier than ever.

Dan and Lisa have put their past behind them and are happier than ever as the Sky1 comedy drama Mount Pleasant returns, explains star Sally Lindsay

Mount Pleasant's favourite couple have been through a difficult patch over the last few years. First we had Dan's dalliance with a saucy neighbour, played by former EastEnders star Samantha Womack, then last year we had couples therapy!

But Sally Lindsay, who plays Lisa in the hit family drama, is pleased to say the couple are happier than ever as the new series returns to Sky1.

"I was massively overwhelmed by how much the viewers wanted them to be together," said Sally. "People told me it was hard to watch, they couldn't bear it. There was a rage on Twitter, people desperately wanted them to be all right!"

Dan and Lisa hit a rocky patch last series following the birth of their daughter Molly, but now their worries are behind them.

"Molly is actually played by my niece," explained Sally. "The little girl who was playing Molly before wasn't having a nice time and it just wasn't working..

"Then one day my niece came to visit me on set and she was running up and down and having a great time with everyone. We just had this moment where we thought, why not?"

Mount Pleasant returns to Sky1 on Tuesday 30 August
