June Sarpong has launched a new website to encourage more women to become interested in politics. The former T4 presenter has launched politicsandthecity.com because she believes women need motivating to get involved in political debate and activism. June, who once dated MP David Lammy, said: "I think the thing is there aren't enough women that are being allowed to be engaged. And we are interested in this stuff, it's just that it's not packaged in a way that relates to us. "I was in the States and I had a meeting with NBC News and they were asking me what I wanted to do and when I told them they said: 'Well, are you doing it online?' I said actually I'm not.' They said: 'You should be' and that's how the idea came about." June, who has also presented such shows as Your Face Or Mine? and WAGs Boutique, decided to use her celebrity connections to get a host of other influential women involved. She revealed: "Then I thought wouldn't it be great to get some of the women that I know and that I've interviewed over the years involved, blogging about stuff that matters to them. "I started making phone calls and emailing and luckily so many people said yes, in fact they all said yes. "We've got Kylie Minogue, Dannii Minogue, Kathy Lette, Ronni Ancona, Teresa May, Kelly Hoppen, Shami Chakrabarti, Baroness Amos, Lily Cole - a real mixed bag of fantastic inspirational women."
