SCI-FI-LONDON 2013 | Fun free events to catch this Bank Holiday weekend

With the 12thannual SCI-FI-LONDON film festival happening in Stratford, East London now until 6 May, there are a host of fun events to unleash your inner geek this Bank Holiday weekend.

• BFI FILM PRODUCTION WORKSHOP (Saturday 4 May, 11am) FREE Learn how to make your own movies using your digital camera. Plus, there’s limited free tickets to the new British thriller THE FACILITY on offer when you attend.

• MIRROR RORRIM (Sunday 5 May, 11am) FREE Join a series of panel discussions and hands-on sessions looking at the future of home and mobile entertainment. Featuring Augmented Reality systems, immersive television, EEG brain-controlled devices and glassless 3D.

• SUPERDOGS!! (Sunday 5 May, from 12noon) FREE Bring along your pooch as a famous film or TV character, and have them photographed.

• DOCTOR WHO AT 50 (Sunday 5 May, 12.30pm) LIMITED FREE TICKETS Explore the Doctor’s adventures in print with two panels featuring authors Paul Cornell and Terrance Dicks, and artist Mark Buckingham. Plus, there’s a chance to see the cult 1960’s movie DOCTOR WHO AND THE DALEKS, starring Peter Cushing.

• INNERSPACE (Monday 6 May, 11am) Kids’ Club FREE This screening introduces the new generation of intrepid sci-fi fans to Joe Dante’s classic goofball comedy. No unaccompanied adults! Grown-ups can be dropped off at the Free Pub Quiz, which follows at the Stratford Picturehouse.
