Oscar nominated actress Sophie Okonedo has admitted that she no longer watches herself in her TV or film roles.
The 44-year-old returns to screens this weekend in the new BBC One thriller Mayday, which will be shown over the course of five nights from Sunday.
However she confessed that while she tuned in to her performances when she was younger she now avoids them.
"I used to, but when I stopped it was like a relief not to do it," Sophie said. "I don't think it's helpful for me as an actor.
"I think if I see how I am on camera, it'll make me more self-conscious the next time."
Sophie revealed, however, that she may make an exception for Mayday - since the cast were not allowed to see the final script and therefore do not know how the saga ends.
The thriller, in which she plays former police officer turned housewife Fiona, focuses on the mystery which envelops a village after a local teenager goes missing.

And she admitted: "I don't know what kind of character I've ended up playing."
