Ricky Gervais won the Emmy for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series on Sunday, but was unable to collect it due to comedy show commitments in London. So he turned to US comic star Steve Carell to accept the award for his performances in Extras. Carell, the star of Evan Almighty and The 40-Year-Old Virgin, has reprised Gervais's role as the embarrassing boss in the US version of The Office.
