Strictly's Fiona Fullerton reveals ballet training

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Fiona Fullerton has revealed she is no stranger to the world of dance, having previously trained in ballet.

The former James Bond girl - who was paired with Anton du Beke on Saturday night's launch show - admitted that she attended Elmhurst Ballet School in Surrey from the age of nine.

And she has also appeared in West End musicals, as well as playing burlesque performer Gypsy Rose Lee on stage.

However the actress - who gave up her life of dance to focus on her film career instead - hinted that her previous training was unlikely to give her an advantage.

“I danced as a girl but I was really surprised to have Strictly approach me. I’ve been retired for years. I couldn’t believe it," she said.

Fellow contestants Natalie Gumede and Ashley Taylor Dawson have also had dance training in the past, with the latter putting his best foot forward as a member of short-lived band allSTARS*.

However both denied that it would give them a lead over the others.

"I feel like I have more to prove now," said Natalie, "I've never done any dancing professionally and I haven't danced for over 10 years."

Meanwhile Ashley added: "I can bust a move on the dance floor but ballroom is another matter."

Natalie - who is the early favourite to win - was paired with Artem Chigvintsev on Saturday night's Strictly while Ashley will perform with Ola Jordan.
