Tamzin Outhwaite: Marriage split was 'a complete shock'

Tamzin Outhwaite has spoken about her split from husband Tom Ellis, confessing it came as a 'complete shock'.

The ex-EastEnders actress and the Miranda star separated in August last year after seven years of marriage, and have two children together.

Tamzin opened up to Good Housekeeping magazine, confessing: "It was a complete shock, but we are rebuilding our lives pretty successfully.

"It's been a tough year, but when things like this happen to you, your resolve and strength of character come through."

Their first daughter was born in 2008 and their second baby girl arrived last August.

The New Tricks actress, 43, said she has been trying to stay positive and focus on her family.

She said: "People and situations are seldom what they seem. I'm trying to stay positive as I have two great kids. I'm certainly not feeling bitter, which is great. I'm not down on men or thinking I'm never going to get married again.

"I'm not saying I don't have moments. I'm really trying hard for the sake of my kids to be this extraordinary human being. We are rebuilding quite well. I don't feel unlovable or damaged. I'm thinking about what the possibilities of my future now are. I would have done anything to keep my family together, but it wasn't to be. I do feel pretty strong."

Tamzin said she is not ready to start dating and is enjoying single life.

She said: "People talk to me about it but no, it's not happening yet. But who knows? I've always been self-sufficient and never needed a man.

"If someone honest and kind came along I think I would be up for it, but not right now! Not yet. I want to have a laugh."
