The Apprentice's Kevin: I deserved the sack!
Kevin Shaw has said that he deserved to be fired from The Apprentice. The 24-year-old bank manager was the latest contestant to be booted off the show, after the team he was project manager for lost a challenge to pitch greetings cards to top retailers. Kevin's team tried to find a gap in the market and his group chose an environmental theme, bizarrely trying to save the planet by using environmentally-unfriendly greetings cards. Oops. Kevin, who lives in Woking, Surrey, said Sir Alan had made the right decision based on the task. He said: "I wanted to go into the boardroom on my own... "I was the right one to go. If you're running a company, when the business goes under so does the manager for the company. My team lost so surely I must take responsibility for the task." Asked what went wrong, Shaw said: "The whole task was a disaster... The idea and the pitches were awful." Kevin goofed by not taking Jenny, who dreamed up the environmental theme, into the boardroom, but added he would like one of the men to win as he built a 'natural bond' with them and said he was taking some time out to consider his future options. In the boardroom, Sir Alan told Kevin on the BBC One show: "Clinton Cards reported that your pitch was dreadful. Not selling them cards but preaching to them. (There was) a smell of arrogance about you." But Kevin said: "There is a thin line (between) arrogance and confidence. Maybe I seemed a bit over-confident."
