TV Times tops picks for tonight

What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight three of the best shows on telly tonight for Saturday 9th December

Through the Keyhole, 9.50pm, ITV

It’s now 30 years since celebrity guests Alan Coren, Mary Parkinson and Kenneth Williams first tried to guess "who lives in a house like this?" in the first episode of a show that Keith Lemon has now made his own. Keith is now five series into his tenure as presenter and nosey house detective, and for this first show of the current run there’s an I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! theme, with former jungle dwellers turning up on the panel. ‘Queen of the Jungle’ Stacey Solomon, TV presenter Myleene Klass, legendary DJ Tony Blackburn, and odd-man-out, comic Jimmy Carr are this week’s panellists. But will the I’m a Celeb... contestants be mystery participants, too? Rating: ****

John Noakes: TV Hero, 5.30pm, BBC2

John Noakes: TV hero

The longest serving Blue Peter presenter died aged 83 in May this year. This tribute looks back at his life with contributions from the people who knew him best. John was famed for his daredevil antics during his 12 years on the show, including climbing Nelson’s Column without a harness, and achieving a world-record breaking five-mile free fall. Then, of course, there was his famous phrase, "Get down, Shep!" as he tried in vain to control his beloved border collie. John’s widow Vicky reveals what he was like off-screen, while co-presenters including Peter Purves and Valerie Singleton reminisce. Rating: ****

Strictly Come Dancing, 6.45pm, BBC1

Strictly Come Dancing

There’s just one little dance-off standing between our remaining couples and a spot in next week’s glittering grand finale. Nobody wants to fall at the final hurdle, but with each pair performing both a latin and a ballroom routine, there are a lot of steps for those nervous celebs to remember. And just one mistake could leave them in a precarious position on the leaderboard. We’ve already had a shock departure with Aston’s elimination earlier in the series – could there be another upset? Meanwhile, tomorrow night will be the judges’ last chance to have their say, as next week is all about the public vote. Use your power wisely, Craig! Rating: *****
