US network CBS cancels Two And A Half Men

Ashton Kutcher's comedy Two And A Half Men is coming to an end.

CBS announced that the upcoming 12th season of the comedy, which Ashton joined following the departure of Charlie Sheen, will be its last.

Two And A Half Men, which also stars Jon Cryer, was first broadcast in 2003.

Creator Chuck Lorre promised plenty of surprises for the final season, but top CBS entertainment executive Nina Tassler said she doesn't know whether bringing Charlie's character back from the dead will be one of them.

The announcement came as the network released its new schedule, which will include a drama called Madam Secretary in which Tea Leoni will portray the US secretary of state.

It was also announced that CBS is cancelling The Crazy Ones starring Robin Williams, after one season.

The network rejected How I Met Your Dad, the planned spin-off to How I Met Your Mother which featured Meg Ryan as a narrator.

Tassler said CBS had creative problems with the pilot and wanted producers to redo it, and they would not.
