Voice hopeful Jamie Bruce is a shadow of the man viewers saw on Saturday night's show after losing 4st in just seven weeks.
The singing bouncer, who won a place on Tom Jones's team in this weekend's fifth round of blind auditions, revealed the weight piled on after he was rejected from The X Factor in 2011.
However he told The Sun that his success on the BBC One show has helped him to shed the pounds.
"I have been treated better by the BBC," he said. "It has changed my mental state and my insecurities. It's been very positive.
"I came out of The X Factor feeling low and questioning if I should carry on. I ate and drank a lot for the next four months to try and forget about feeling like a failure.
"It felt like the experience had been a big waste of two months. But the difference with The Voice is that they give you constructive criticism even if they don’t put you through. So people don't feel as if they haven't succeeded."
Jamie, who is now down to 20st, said he hopes to lose another three stone before the live shows begin in June. "With the frame of mind I’m now in, it has been so easy to cut out bad things," he said.
