Gemma Atkinson favourite to leave Strictly Come Dancing in tonight’s semi-final
The ex-Hollyoaks and Emmerdale actress will dancing the Tango tonight with partner Aljaz Skorjanec
It’s the semi-final of Strictly Come Dancing tonight, and Gemma Atkinson and partner Aljaz Skorjanec are favourites to leave the show, according to betting website Betway.
Betway has placed them with odds of 11/8 to crash on this week after it was revealed that she’s dancing a Tango.
Historically Gemma has been stronger at ballroom than Latin in the competition, and Betway has revealed that the Tango is one of the riskiest routines to perform.
The website reveals that the Tango caused 14 per cent of performers to be eliminated from the show.
It’s also the dance behind many top scores of 40 in the show’s past, with five dancing couples having being given scores of 40 to date in Strictly’s 13 year history, including Debbie McGee last month.
Alan Alger from Betray revealed: ‘Viewed as the ultimate test, the Tango is certainly a favourite amongst Strictly viewers.

‘The sizzling routines makes it difficult to pull off, and our research suggests it’s very much a risk-reward scenario for dancers who attempt the notoriously tricky dance.
‘This week, Gemma Atkinson has opted for the Tango, a move which we think could prove costly. She’s been backed into 11/8 to be eliminated this weekend.’
This morning Gemma posted a photo to Instagram and revealed that she was struggling with tiredness after her packed schedule, writing ‘the struggle is real’.
Last week Debbie McGee and Alexandra Burke came joint first at the top of the leaderboard with 39 points each.
Davood Ghadami and Gemma was joint bottom, each with scores of 29.
Davood went on to be eliminated with partner Nadya Bychkova.
