Big Brother: Quirky Jonty to win?
Big Brother newcomer Jonty is now just 14/1 to win the series after a major gamble from show fans, according to Ladbrokes. The 37-year-old virgin entered the house as a 33/1 outsider but has quickly gained popularity thanks to his outlandish behaviour. David Williams of Ladbrokes said: "His freaky behaviour has gone down a storm. Of all the new housemates Jonty seems to have won over the punting public. "He'll have to go some way to topple hot favourite Brian but, if this continues, it can't be ruled out. The weirder he gets, the more he's loved." Jonty is now fourth favourite to win the show - behind Brian at 2/5, Liam at 7/2 and Amanda at 12/1. Bookies have resisted the temptation to price up the latest eviction, as viewers struggle to get their heads around the halfway house concept. "With four up for eviction and doubts around how many will be turfed out, we're sitting the dance out this week. Big Brother has confused us," David said. Jonty is a self-confessed teddy bear obsessive and Dr Who fan. He is also a keen student, and has learnt how to speak eight languages. And the public aren't the only ones who appear to have taken Jonty to their hearts. He's also winning fans in the Big Brother house itself, since moving in as a fully-fledged housemate on Wednesday. "He's a brilliant bloke," said Carole to Liam. "I think people can sometimes, on first impression, misjudge people. I do resent the fact that Amy was saying he was weird, that he was this and he was that." The tree surgeon, who spent time with Jonty in the Halfway House, agreed. "I told him 'people will be absolutely over the moon to have you over there' and it's right," he told her. He's sound as a pound."
