Death is no stranger to Call The Midwife, but it hits particularly hard in the dramatic and emotional series finale when the residents of Nonnatus House have to bury one of their own.

Is is Sister Evangelina (Pam Ferris)?

She recently returned to work after having a stroke and it’s clear she still has health problems. But are they bad enough to kill her?

Sister Evangelina has had serious health problems

Or will viewers be mourning the death of someone totally unexpected? Maybe a younger resident? Was Sister Mary Cynthia (Bryony Hannah) more seriously injured than anyone realised when she was viciously attacked a couple of episodes ago?

One thing’s for sure… The series’ nine million viewers are going to be devastated and Nonnatus House will never be the same again.
