Sunetra Sarker will return for one episode of Casualty as doctor Zoe Hanna, a spokesperson for the BBC1 show has confirmed

Sunetra Sarker will return for one episode of Casualty as doctor Zoe Hanna, a spokesperson for the BBC1 show has confirmed to What’s On TV.

The 44-year-old actress, who’s currently appearing in ITV drama Safe House, was last seen in Casualty heading to America as Zoe.

In the show’s autumn trailer we saw a forlorn Max (Jamie Davis) writing a text to Zoe reading "Hey Zoe – how are you?"

So, it seems that a reunion between Zoe and her old flame now looks firmly on the cards.

Zoe and Max

Will Zoe and Max rekindle their romance?

Zoe was one of the hospital drama’s most popular characters and during her time on the show proved a real heartbreaker – her main love interests being consultant Nick Jordan (Michael French) and hospital porter Max (Jamie Davis).

In her final scenes last year she left husband Max to work in America alongside Jordan. Sunetra played Zoe for nearly nine years.

Meanwhile, Saturday's episode of Casualty will see clinical lead, Connie Beauchamp, receiving some life-changing news about her health.

Elsewhere in Holby ED, Josh and Charlie try to out-bravado each other after a heavy night drinking.
