Now that the Apple TV app is available on Roku and Fire TV devices, it's easier than ever to watch films and TV shows purchased from iTunes. Previously, you'd need an Apple TV device to watch films purchased via iTunes, though these tend to be some of the most expensive streaming media devices available currently. Movies Anywhere is also an option, albeit with some sacrifices, which allows you to consolidate your digital libraries across retailers so that films would be shared between each account, though there is a moderate portion of films which are not eligible for the program. No TV shows are eligible for Movies Anywhere either.
