Congratulations to Doc Martin star Martin Clunes, who’s been awarded an OBE

Doc Martin star Martin Clunes (opens in new tab) has been awarded an OBE for services to drama, charity and the community in Dorset.

“It’s very exciting and I’m tremendously proud,” said Martin, who received the award in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Martin, is married to Doc Martin (opens in new tab) producer Philippa Braithwaite (opens in new tab), lives with his family on a farm in Dorset, where he supports several local causes, including the county’s chamber orchestra.

Other entertainers to be recognised are US actor Kevin Spacey (opens in new tab) and British comedian Lenny Henry (opens in new tab), who received knighhoods, with OBEs also going to Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne (opens in new tab), entertainer Michael Ball (opens in new tab), Doctor Who (opens in new tab) producer Steven Moffat (opens in new tab) and actress Lesley Manville (opens in new tab).

CBEs were awarded to actors Benedict Cumberbatch (opens in new tab) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (opens in new tab), Paddington Bear creator Michael Bond (opens in new tab) and broadcaster and chef Loyd Grossman (opens in new tab).
