Doc Martin star Martin Clunes has been awarded an OBE for services to drama, charity and the community in Dorset.
“It’s very exciting and I’m tremendously proud,” said Martin, who received the award in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
Martin, is married to Doc Martin producer Philippa Braithwaite, lives with his family on a farm in Dorset, where he supports several local causes, including the county’s chamber orchestra.
Other entertainers to be recognised are US actor Kevin Spacey and British comedian Lenny Henry, who received knighhoods, with OBEs also going to Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne, entertainer Michael Ball, Doctor Who producer Steven Moffat and actress Lesley Manville.
CBEs were awarded to actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Chiwetel Ejiofor, Paddington Bear creator Michael Bond and broadcaster and chef Loyd Grossman.
