Bates and Anna are locked up in Downton Abbey!

Downton Abbey's Mr Bates and his wife Anna look set to end up behind bars, new preview images from the show reveal.

Last night's episode (November 2) showed the ladies' maid and her valet husband - played by Joanne Froggatt and Brendan Coyle - confident that they were no longer suspects in the murder of Mr Green.

But new pictures released from the hit ITV period drama show Anna in a police line-up and her and Bates both locked up in a police cell.

Bates has previously been in prison for the murder of his ex-wife, before Anna proved his innocence and they were finally able to marry.

But last series Anna was brutally raped by visiting valet Mr Green, played by Nigel Harman, who police suspect was killed after apparently tripping and falling under a vehicle in London.

In Sunday's episode, Anna asked Bates: "Do you feel the whole business with Mr Green might be over?"

Her husband replied: "Well, they seem to have accepted the fact that I spent the day in York and Miss Baxter has given them nothing new to go on."

"So we can dare to plan our future again, like normal people," added Anna.

She may have spoken too soon...
