Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher teases his biggest every storyline

It's been a big start to 2015 for Emmerdale, with Charity's shock sentencing, Robert and Aaron's sexy affair and Rachel's return.

And with Emmerdale star Sammy Winward quitting the role of Katie, who she has played since 2001, the scene is set for more must-see drama, as Katie's attempt to expose love rat, Robert stirs up trouble between Katie and her hubby, Andy.

But while Kelvin Fletcher, who plays Andy is sad to see Sammy leave the soap, he can't wait to see the fireworks fly on screen!

"I’m very sad to see an actress of Sammy’s calibre leaving the show," says Kelvin. "But I do wish Sammy all the best. On and off we have worked together for about 10 years. But selfishly, I’m very excited about the storyline her departure brings. I think it’s going to be the biggest storyline I’ve ever been involved in. So while there is a sadness with Sammy’s departure, hopefully it will bring some great television."

Simon has long been a fan of soap operas, and especially loves OVER-THE-TOP plots involving evil twins, hair-pulling catfights and natural disasters. Anyone remember the Sunset Beach earthquake/tidal wave? Or when Krystle Carrington got locked in the attic and replaced by look-a-like Rita in Dynasty?!

Simon has written for a variety of TV and childrens’ magazines/websites including Inside Soap, Nickelodeon, What’s On TV, Radio Times, Metro, Girl Talk, Disney Girl, Toxic! and Digital Spy. He has reported LIVE from the red carpet at The British Soap Awards interviewing glammed-up stars from soapland, and hosted a Facebook LIVE session for Metro with Home and Away legend Ray Meagher (Alf "Stone the flamin' crows!" Stewart) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Aussie soap.

Simon is also co-author of The Treasures Of Coronation Street (Carlton Books)

And the writer and director of (very!) low budget fright flick, Midsummer Night's EVIL and the sequel webisodes series, The Hatchet Woods HORROR.
