Gemma Atkinson to join Emmerdale

Casualty actress Gemma Atkinson is set to join Emmerdale as Bob Hope's estranged daughter, Carly Hope.

After missing out on his presence while growing up, Carly thinks her dad has to make up for lost time and life will soon become difficult for Emmerdale favourite Bob (Tony Audenshaw).

However, with a string of failed relationships behind her, Carly has more in common with her seven-times married father than she'd care to admit. Will she have better success in Emmerdale?

Gemma, who played paramedic Tamsin Bayle in Casualty and also Lisa Hunter in C4 soap Hollyoaks, will begin filming this month and will be on screen late March.

Gemma said: "I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the cast of Emmerdale and I cannot wait to see what's in store for Carly. I hope you all enjoy watching her story unfold."

Kate Oates, Emmerdale series producer, said: "I'm delighted to welcome Gemma to the cast, her character Carly is sure to liven things up for Bob and Brenda and anyone who crosses her path."
