Director Steven Spielberg's fascinating true-story adventure, starring Leonardo DCaprio, is gloriously funny, expertly acted and full of eye-catching period detail.

In 1960s America, DiCaprio's teen Frank Abagnale Jr becomes one of the most successful con artists of his era, passing himself off as a pilot, lawyer, even a doctor, amassing a fortune from forged cheques.

And always, just too late to catch him, is uptight FBI agent Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks). This is a perfect star vehicle for DiCaprio.

All bright-eyed confidence, he breezes through airports, hotels and hospitals without a care in the world. Hanks is also compelling and, in support, Christopher Walken makes an impact as DiCaprio's dad and Martin Sheen also has a pivotal scene.
