The fifth adventure of JK Rowling's boy wizard starring Daniel Radcliffe, Ralph Fiennes and Imelda Staunton

The villainous Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) is back, but the Ministry of Magic won't believe it and try to make a scapegoat of Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) for using his powers in the presence of a human. Even more bad news: government meddler Imelda Staunton is assigned to Hogwarts and proceeds to ruin the place with a lot of unnecessary tests, rules and targets. However, Harry's friends stand by him as he secretly prepares for the worst.

Adapted from what is generally agreed to be the weakest book in JK Rowling's best-selling fantasy saga, this fifth adventure for the boy wizard finds Harry entering his difficult teenage years. The evil Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) is back at large, but no one in authority will accept the truth about him, so it falls on Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) to secretly begin forming an army of teen wizards to do battle.

Director David Yates maintains the sombre tone of the previous two movies - the Prisoner of Azkaban and the Goblet of Fire - and saves the big special effects for a slam-bang finale. It's a credit to his skill that the story moves at a breakneck pace, even though it's probably the talkiest entry in the hit series to date.
