Keeping Faith – BBC1
Eve Myles is back as lawyer Faith Howells to face a new and darker mystery as hit BBC1 drama Keeping Faith returns this week
BBC1 Welsh/English drama Keeping Faith was meant to be a one-off series, but its cliffhanger of an ending had viewers clamouring for more – and this week the show’s second outing hits our screens in English (the Welsh version, Un Bore Mercher, was shown on S4C and BBC iPlayer earlier this year).
Fans will recall that lawyer Faith Howells (Torchwood’s Eve Myles) got drawn into a conspiracy while searching for her missing husband, Evan (played by Eve’s real-life husband Bradley Freegard), who then made a dramatic reappearance!
Now, 18 months since waltzing back into Faith’s life, Evan’s in jail for a host of shady dealings, Faith is dealing with the fallout of his criminal escapades, and the truth about his disappearance is revealed…
Keeping Faith is unusual in that it's dual-language and scenes are filmed in both Welsh and English back-to-back, so Eve had to learn Welsh in order to play the part – from scratch!
‘It took about four months of hard work and I started with the alphabet.
'I didn’t even know there was a different alphabet!’ says Eve, who was born in Ystradgynlais, southwest Powys, Wales.
‘I’d sit at the table and do it word for word, sound for sound.
'It was blood, sweat and tears, but what a reward in the end.
'Now I can speak it without even realising it!’
