With its cute characters and lovely animation, this charming comedy's a knockout treat for all the family.

Narcissistic Alex the lion (voiced by Ben Stiller) likes being the centre of attention at the zoo, but his pals Marty the restless zebra (Chris Rock), Melman the hypochondriac giraffe (David Schwimmer) and Gloria the flirty hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith) are eager to find out what's on the other side of the fence.

However, once they fetch up in Madagascar, they find that life away from all their home comforts isn't all it's cracked up to be.

The movie appeals to kids and adults, too, with top star voices and attractive visuals. The scene-stealing penguins and Sacha Baron Cohen's King Julien the lemur and his sidekick Maurice (Cedric the Entertainer) are the funniest characters.
