Martial arts maestro Jet Li breaks out of jail in Hong Kong and goes to the US to find out who murdered his brother

Martial arts maestro Jet Li breaks out of jail in Hong Kong and goes to the US to find out who murdered his brother.

Cue a war between rival crime factions in which Li’s caught in the middle, along with Aaliyah, the daughter of key mobster Delroy Lindo.

The story takes a while to find its groove, but the many fight scenes are boisterously staged and backed up by some excellent music, which pumps up the energy level no end.

Though the key plot twist can be seen coming almost from the start, this is a premium slice of action and it happily emphasises comedy as well as action.

Our hero's bemused take on American football is an especially funny scene and what martial arts movie would be complete without that regulation gang of motorbike-riding assassins?
