Dr Nikki Alexander (Emilia Fox), TV's most well-groomed pathologist, is back on the case in Discovery, the second two-part investigation in the crime drama's 20th series.

As with last week's opener, the action centres on two cases – the disappearance of a teacher out on a bike ride, and the discovery of a young woman's body underneath a bridge.

The dialogue may be slightly clunky at times, but the cases are certainly gripping, the forensics fascinating and the prosthetic bodies as startlingly realistic as ever.

Be warned – there is one rather grisly autopsy scene that may have you watching the TV through your fingers! Part two of the episode can be seen tomorrow night at 9.00pm.
