This Canadian sci-fi horror fantasy, starring Aden Young, makes for strange but intriguing viewing.
Young is suitably grim as the film's solitary protagonist, Bob, a former professional hockey player-turned-sawmill worker who has cut himself off from society to hide the secret that he is slowly turning invisible.
However, he feels compelled to reconnect with the family he abandoned eight years earlier after his troubled teenage daughter (Julia Sarah Stone) goes missing.
An expert in special make-up effects, first-time director Geoff Redknap gives us grisly glimpses of Bob's condition. When not safely swaddled, Bob's missing flesh exposes bloody internal organs.
Yet it is not the gruesome effects, nor a half-hearted crime subplot involving drug dealing and Chinese medicine, but Bob's emotional plight that makes the biggest impact.
